Hello!
Thank you so much for supporting Recess On December 15-20th of this year we will be holding a virtual silent art auction to raise the money needed to continue doing important work in the community.
Recess has been offering parenting and early childhood support to San Francisco families since 2008. Our physical space has been a center for young children to play and learn, for parents to find support through community, classes and birth groups, and somewhere that no one was ever turned away for lack of funds.
As you can guess Recess is one of the many organizations that has been unable to open since March.
Families with young children are struggling and need out support more than ever. Recess is committed to continuing their mission of community outreach, early child development and parental support. But our indoor physical space is no longer an option.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we have decided to take Recess on the road; a community center on wheels. This new direction for Recess will mean that more neighborhoods can be provided with safe, socially distanced support for families.
Together, we can continue to create meaningful activities to support brain development of young children, outreach/support to parents & community by contributing an original piece, print, or experience to the silent auction.
All donating artists will be named on the virtual flyer that will be posted throughout social media and also on a commemorative display on the new mobile Recess vehicle. Please note that Recess is a 501c(3) organization, so donations made can be reported as a tax write off.
The void left by the lack of early learning experiences for the youngest people in the world right now is devastating. Recess would love to give parents some relief and sense of normalcy by offering a safe place to meet up with their children. We, and the families in the community, truly appreciate your help making the next step a reality.
