Being a new parent is an exciting, exhausting, and magical time. Only you truly know the emotional and physical toll a new baby brings, and what a unique and personal experience it is!
We invite you to build community through Parent Circles at Recess. You’ll organically meet like-minded parents and begin building your new family’s community, while gaining resources to help support your little one's growth.
Recess is geared toward supporting you in this journey, whether you've just begun growing a baby in your belly, or if you’re ready to pop. We’re also here as you get to know your new baby, and when you're curious about how to navigate the toddler or preschool years.
In our hour long, weekend groups, new mamas and papas are invited to connect and collaborate to work through questions and struggles. Parentline Counselors are on hand to moderate introductions and to share information relevant to your baby's needs (& your needs, too!).
First Saturdays
Parentline is a fantastic resource for new and expecting parents.
Parentline is a free counseling service for parents of children from pregnancy to 3 years of age. Call or email their warmline with your parenting, child development, or wellness questions. They can help with:
Infant fussiness
Sleep issues
Parental wellbeing: baby blues, anxiety, stress, social support
Feeding, walking, speaking and other milestones
General information about your baby and young child's development
Parent Circles groups meet in Recess' front studio space. Each group is a casual monthly meetup designed to allow for time to get to know other parents sharing a similar experience as you & provide support and answer questions as you step into new territory.
You're welcome to bring snacks and beverages to enjoy in our laid back environment, as you take time to nurture yourself and support your child's development.
Expecting
(for parents-to-be) First Saturday of each month. 10am. Meet other expectant parents, get to know one another, share tips and tricks, and benefit from the questions other’s ask. It’s definitely a bit trickier to leave the house with an infant in tow…so build your village BEFORE baby arrives and benefit from the sense of community after.
New Parent Meet ups
(for mamas and papas of pre-crawlers). First Saturday of the month, 11am
Feel free to venture in to the playspace, take a look around, and play with your infant. Utilize our kitchen (with bottle warmer, microwave, fridge, etc), and explore the play area.
You are not alone.
The bottom line is that, while parenting can feel isolating, and every day takes you into uncharted territory, having a little village of folks in the same boat is life changing. Build your community before baby arrives if you can. If your babe is here, keep building! If you’re looking for support but don’t know where to start, let us know. We’re happy to help.
